How to Make A Snappy Turtle Coffee Drink

Ever had See’s chocolate & pecan Turtle candies or a Snappy Turtle cookie? If so, then chances are you will love this sweet flavored, mocha, extra-kick drink!   This is a “double shot” concoction – hence the name “Snappy Turtle”. If you’re a fan of chocolate, or Starbucks’ Carmel Macchiato, you’ll love this great coffee drink you can make at home!

I first came across this decadent coffee drink while living in Bend, OR. Folks in the Northwest are known for their coffee – and for good reason! This recipe is a modified version of a coffee I used to order at least three times a week on my way to work. It’s a great way to get the day going!   The extra caffeine and chocolate/carmel makes this a great “get up and go” drink any day you need a little extra kick.  You can also make it by the pot and share with your friends.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need

  • 2 shots Espresso (2 oz)
  • 8 oz steamed milk
  • 1/2 oz chocolate syrup
  • 1 oz Southern Butter Pecan Creamer
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel syrup

Step 1 :

In a large coffee mug, prepare 2 oz (2 shots) of Espresso. If you don’t have an espresso maker, you can use fine ground french roast coffee brewed very strong.

Step 2:

Add 8 oz steamed milk. I prefer 2%, but you can substitute soy, skim, etc. Stir quickly. Add in 1/2 oz. chocolate syrup (Hershey’s is great) and 1 oz Southern Butter Pecan creamer (you can buy this at major grocery chains). If you can’t find butter pecan, you can reduce your milk to 4 oz. and use 4-5 oz. of melted butter pecan or pralines & cream ice cream or  (30 sec. in the microwave). Stir well

Step 3 :
Add whipped cream and a swirl of caramel syrup. You’re ready to go!

Tips & Warnings

  • Hazelnut creamer will give you a similar “nutty” flavor
  • I wouldn’t recommend drinking before bedtime.
