A few quality garments can take you a long way. I am not of the belief that you need to buy new clothes every fortnight. Smart shopping can take your wardrobe a long way and save you a few bucks as well.

Purchase a few quality products that are durable. This does not mean you need to buy the most expensive item on the rack; it simply means that you need to purchase the product that is well designed and cut to suit your body. Always check the fabric to understand the durability (shelf life) of the garment.

Never buy clothes without trying them on. These are articles that you plan on having in your wardrobe for a few seasons and hence along with the investment of money invest a few minutes to try out the garment as well. Every designer has their own size chart and you may get caught up with the numbers.

Choose classic colors like black, white, navy blue and red. These never go out of style unlike immerging trends of the season.

Your closet must contain a few necessary items. Men need to have a white shirt, black trousers, black tie and a blazer. A woman must have a little black dress, a pencil skirt, a white top, a fine belt, and boots till the knees with heels and flat boots. Both sexes must have a trench coat, top hat and an umbrella.

Accessories must be simple. Men must have a black and a brown wallet. The same goes for belts and shoes. Women must have a black handbag, black belt and black closed shoes. Earring, chains and rings must be basic. Your make up kit must have a foundation with concealer, loose powder, a lipstick, mascara, eye shadow and a blush on.

You will notice that these basic garments can take you through various seasons when mixed with the right way.
