With the new year came the AutoWeek car show, and to celebrate this the guys over at Turn 10 Studios unleashed on the Forza community 10 of the newest cars of well known manufactures that have just been released, or are stated for release somewhere down the line. In this review I will give a run down of all 10 cars and what I thought of them after taking each one for a lap around the Nurburgring. So, lets get started.
First on the list is the 2010Aston Martin One-77:
There is only one thing to say about this car, and that is fast! Handling wise it is not so good, under steering being a big problem around the twists and turns but once you are through them and have a straight bit of road the car really shines. If the road is long enough you can top 200MPH. Going onto the looks, it shows a very futuristic image but you can see the shell of its baby brothers and sisters beneath it.
Next up we have the 2009 Audi R8 LMS Show Car:
I loved taking this car around the Nurburgring. It’s very fun, quick and takes every turn with ease. I could take this car for a 50 lap race around the Nurburgring and not get bored with it. It looks like your regular R8, but lowered and with a huge spoiler on the back. This car is just as fun to look at as it is to drive. The guys at Turn 10 have done well to bring us this
2009 Audi RS 6:
Nice on acceleration, nice on speed with mediocre handling. That’s about all there is to say on this car really. It’s looks are very bland and to be honest I found this car a little boring to drive. The only thing that would keep me coming back to this car is the sound.
Which brings us onto the 2010 BMW Motorsport M6 Coupe:
I was looking forward to driving this one and I wasn’t disappointed. This car has Good acceleration, nice speed and a good bit of handling which has a little bit of over steer an gives it a nice little flair around corners. I also found this car very competitive with the 2009 Audi RS 6 and it’s given me the idea of an Audi V BMW Forza racing series that could be held on line.
Now we get the first taste of the states in this pack with the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport:
I was very surprised when I drove this as I was expecting to be driving a beast which wanted to over steer while coming out of every turn, instead I got a beast which was very gentle coming out of the turns. It has amazing handling and there were only a few times when the back end swung out. Along with it’s handling the car boosts good speed and nice powerful acceleration. Compare the car to the 2009 Corvette and you will have a hard time working out which is which.
Staying in the states we move onto the 2010 Ford Shelby GT500:
A very good all rounder. Good handling, good speed, good acceleration, good everything. I found I had a smile on my face as I took this car for a spin round the ring as it is fun to drive. If I could compliment this car on anything it would be the sound. It roars out of the TV screen at you! It was also, like the BMW, very competitive with the Audi and I can see some good battles in the on line racing lobby’s between these three cars.
The last car from the states in this car pack is the 2010 Saleen S5S Raptor:
The first thing you will notice about this one is the looks. It has a very futuristic look to it and it even sound a little futuristic when you take it to the track. It has very fast acceleration and gets up to 190MPH with ease. It takes corners good and you can feel that it wants to over steer but you have to really push it before that back end starts to swing round. To be honest I didn’t find this machine much fun to drive, it just seemed a little bland.
We go back over the water now for the 2010 Porsche Boxster S:
This latest incarnation of the Boxter boasts superb cornering ability and decent acceleration, as well as an amazing sound. Looks wise it looks very similar to it’s previous versions, with some slight differences. It’s a good car if you’re looking for something that’s not too fast or not too slow.
We now move to the 2010 Pagani Zonda R:
This car is phenomenal! There is no other way to describe it, you really have to drive it yourself to get the full idea of it. It’s super fast, and I do mean super fast and it’s very very quick at getting up to those fast speeds and as for handling you would have a job finding another car that can stick to the road as well as this one, you really would as it just hugs the turns even at high speed. This car is just something else.
Last but not least, the 2009 Lotus 2-Eleven:
This is by far my favorite of the pack. It’s not fast, in fact it’s quite slow for it’s class but if your racing on a track with many twists and turns, like the Nurburgring then you could be leaving your opponents in the dust as the handling is brilliant and it has a nack for getting round corners in a very fast time. If you want to know how it looks, just think of the latest Elise with the roof cut off, a nice spoiler on the back and a roll bar behind the driver and passenger seats. TO some up this car in one word, it would be fun.
There you have it, all ten cars in the latest car pack for Forza Motorsport 3.
