The International Committee of the Red Cross has been working in Haiti since 1994. The ICRC is now focusing on bringing emergency assistance to the victims of this devastating earth quake and they are working in close cooperation with its partners the International Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement.

Donations for Food in Haiti ~

CARE will have over one hundred staff distributing stocks of high-protein biscuits from warehouses in Haiti. They will be coordinating with other aid organisations to gather information about the damage and to speed-up aid response based on these assessments.

Food for the Poor have almost one-hundred containers of rice, canned food and medical supplies ready to be distributed to the people of Haiti. Action Against Hunger has launched an emergency response to the earthquake. They have a team already stationed in the country ready to distribute emergency supplies to assist the earthquake survivors.

Donations for Children in Haiti ~

The UNICEF Haiti Earthqake Children’s appeal will take an on-line donation. A gift of £30 will provide three families with basic water kits. As well as focusing on children who have become separated from their families, UNICEF will be deploying medical supplies, clean water and sanitation supplies, therapeutic foods and tempoary shelter to Jacmel and Port-au-Prince.

You can sponsor a child in Haiti through World Vision, an organisation that provides children and communities with the resources they need to survive. People in the UK who wish to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake are being advised by the government to donate money to the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal.
