Picardy is an hour’s drive away from Calais and 15 minutes away from Paris. It is famously called the real France and has many historic attractions. Picardy is rich in historic sites and picturesque villages with Gerberoy being the finest one. Greberoy is popular as an archaeological site. It also has many Gothic cathedrals and chateaux, abbeys and churches.

Picardy also has great historical significance as it is the site from where William the Conqueror sailed and the Battle of the Crecy was fought. Tourists can also enjoy many historic sites related to wars while in Picardy.

Picardy is also an inspiration of many famous writers like Robert Louis Stevenson, Jules Verne, Colette, Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, La Fontaine and Marcel Proust. The museums of Picardy celebrate all these literary figures.
