Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Having a delicious, home-cooked meal when you get home from work is easy when you have a slow cooker. Using a crockpot to make a pot roast will remind you of Sunday dinners from your youth. Slow cookers today are a busy working woman’s friend. You throw the ingredients in and they cook while you work. Here is a tried and true easy recipe to use in your slow cooker for old-fashioned pot roast.


1 medium yellow onion, peeled and sliced

1 london broil

salt and pepper

1 tablespoon flour

1 package wide egg noodles

vegetable of your choice

Step One- Season both sides of your london broil with salt and pepper.

Step Two- Place the meat in the slow cooker and spread the sliced onion on top.

Step Three- Cover the slow cooker or crock pot and set on low.

Step Four- Go about your day, whether it be work, school or errands.

Step Five- Return about 7 to 8 hours later and when you walk into your kitchen the smell of slow cooked beef will overwhelm you! Turn off the slow cooker.

Step Six- In a small jar, place 1 tablespoon flour. Add about 1/4 cup of the liquid from the crock pot. Put the lid on the jar and shake. Shake until there are no lumps and it is paste-like.

Step Seven- Put up a pot of water to cook your egg noodles in. Meanwhile remove the meat to a cutting board.

Step Eight- Pour the jar of “paste” into the slow cooker and with a whisk, combine it with the liquid until it forms a gravy.

Step Nine- While the egg noodles are cooking, slice the meat. It will be almost shredded. Return the meat to the slow cooker and gently stir the gravy and meat until it is combined.

Step Ten- Heat your vegetables. Drain the egg noodles.

Finally. Serve the pot roast over the noodles with your choice of vegetable on the side. YUM!!!! Homemade delicious pot roast from your slow cooker.

This is also good served with homemade mashed potatoes. I choose egg noodles because they cook quickly. Use steam in microwave vegetables to make it easy and you have a delicious home-cooked meal in minutes.
