Overeating, for instance, commonly leads to heartburn. Heartburn is a symptom of GERD, and is caused by acid refluxing back into the esophagus.
Acid reflux is a continuous condition but heartburn comes and goes, and it does not happen on a regular basics. Two issues often contribute to heartburn problem: overeating or too much pressure on the stomach (obesity or pregnancy). Heavy dishes high in fats and oils (animal or vegetable) often lead to heartburn, as do some medications. Stress increases acid production and can cause heartburn.

Few over-the-counter or prescription medications, are anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, Aspirin, etc.).
Some foodsstimulate increased stomach acid secretion setting the stage for heartburn. Acidic juices like (grapefruit, orange, pineapple) – acidic foods like (tomatoes, grapefruit, and oranges) and chocolate.
Heartburn Treatments and Lifestyle changes:
Two or three pillows: elevate the head, helps gravity to keep acid in the stomach and avoid acid reflux
Avoid eating before bedtime, eat smaller more frequent meals
Antacids may be taken after meals and before bedtime, or when needed to bind excess acid in the stomach.
Herbs for Heartburn:
Just herbs for frequent heartburn may not be enough. Lifestyle changes and dietary habits are always necessary, also for those who are taking prescription medications to prevent heartburn symptoms.
Reflux Acid Apple Cider Vinegar: 2 Teaspoons in water with 1 teaspoon of honey 3 times a day. Honey has natural antiseptics/antibiotics, Plus, it taste great! Drink after a heavy meal if you are treating acid reflux. It works you don’t need any anti-acid.
Heartburn Slippery elm, Fennel or Ginger root tea: treats upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn and other digestive complaints. It gives for the relief of indigestion.
3) For both Bitter herbs like celandine, wormwood and gentian: stimulates digestive function by increasing saliva production and promoting both stomach acid and digestive enzyme production. To be taken by making hot tea before or while eating like the Chinese do, with hot Chinese tea, give better digestion to any type of meals.
Eat bananas, cucumber or watermelon every 2 hours. This can counter the acid level your system
Coconut water is also effective. Drink it couple of times in a day
To help reduce acidity, keep small piece of jugglery in your mouth after every meal.
