How to Make Basic Chicken Stock

This is the basic recipe on how to make your own chicken stock at home.

Ingredients:

Chicken bones

2 carrots – chopped

2 onions – chopped

2 pieces of celery – chopped

2 pieces leeks – chopped

salt

Method to Cook the Chicken Stock:

  1. Place the chicken bones in a pot.
  2. Add the chopped pieces of carrots, onions, celery and leeks.
  3. Season with salt.
  4. Add water.
  5. Bring the chicken stock to a boil, then lower down the heat to simmer.
  6. Let the chicken stock simmer for 4 hours.
  7. Strain the chicken stock through a fine mesh. The stock will now be clear of solid particles.
  8. When cooled down, place the chicken stock in the fridge overnight.
  9. The fats will float to the surface.  Skim off the fats.
  10. Your chicken stock is now ready!  You can use it for your dishes, or to make soup.
  11. You can also pour the chicken stock into an ice cube tray and freeze it.  Then you will have stock ready for anytime that you will need it.
