Make Apple Pumpkin Popcorn Crunch Mix

Around Autumn or the holidays people love to snack on different things that remind them of fall or winter, especially when they are entertaining people. Finding new and delicious recipes to go with the season can be fun and challenging too. Here is a recipe for a seasonal fallish holiday popcorn snack that is crunchy and has dried apples in it and pecans. The spices used make it taste like pumpkin pie. It is great for your Oktoberfest parties or other gatherings. It’s great for kid’s parties too!  Try this great crunchy snack and see for yourself!  You won’t want to stop eating it. Step 1

Combine 6 C unsalted popped popcorn, 1 C coarsly chopped dried apple pieces, and 3/4 C chopped pecans in a large mixing bowl. Mix well.

Step 2
In a medium saucepan, heat 1/4 C light molasses, 1/4 C light corn syrup, 2 T. butter, 2 T. light brown sugar, 2 T. sugar, and 1/2 t. pumpkin pie spice. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved. Don’t let it burn. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally until mixture reaches 285 degrees on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat.

Step 3
Pour syrup all over popcorn mixture. Stir fast and well to coat evenly. I use two wooden spoons like I’m tossing a salad. Cool popcorn mixture to room temperature. Break cooled popcorn mixture into smaller pieces.  This recipe makes about 1 pound of Apple Pumpkin Popcorn Crunch Mix.
