Cherry Cake – Family Recipe

This cherry loaf recipe is really easy to make, even a beginner can make it and succeed.

This was the first cake I taught my daughter to make and she use to make it every week until she turned 16 years old.  So if she could do it, you can too.  It’s easy, fun and delicious,

So get a few friends or family together and get baking.

Turn your oven on to 350 F

So you’ll need a few ingredients :

-1 1/2 cups All purpose flour

-2 tsp baking pwder

-1/2 tsp salt

-1/3 cup butter

– 3/4 cup sugar

– 2 eggs

– 1/2 cup milk

– 1 1/2 cup halved maraschino cherries that have been dredged with flour

Now , stir together: flour, baking powder and salt.  Cream butter, gradually add sugar and cream well untill light and fluffy.  Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Add dry ingredients alternatively with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients, beating after each addition only until smooth.

Fold in maraschino cherries that have been dredged with flour.  Bake in a greased 9” X 5” X 3” loaf pan lined with waxed paper in a moderate oven (350F)50 to 55 minutes.  Serve plain.

Huummm. Delicious.

You can serve this delicious cherry loaf plain, as is, because it’s delicious plain, but you can also serve it with some almond icing, or for the more decadent, why not some chocolate icing?.

Yes, that would be just a tad daring and why not with a touch of ice cream, yum now that’s just down right nasty.      But oh so delicious.  I’m drooling all over my keyboard here. lol..                 Someone bring me a kleenex.  Wish my daughter was here and she could bake us some, miammm.  Cause I’m in no condition to bake or walk, because of a back condition.  But I think I shall ask my husband to go buy us some. But then again the store bought one is nothing compare to the homemade one.  So I think I will wait for my daughter to come back home and I’ll gently ask her to make us one for Christmas day.
