Tis the season for cold’s and flu’s and you may want to know of natural ways to prevent them. Some things that can be done to naturally prevent cold’s and flu’s are easy and affordable to do.
Vitamin D seems to be the most talked about immune system booster this season. Many people have been recommending the use of a vitamin D supplement to help ward off swine flu (H1N1). Vitamin D does have immune boosting properties. A common way to get your daily dose of vitamin D is drinking a cup of vitamin D fortified milk. Another easy way to get your dose of vitamin D is to go out in the sun for fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes in the sun will supply your body with enough vitamin D for the day. Some other ways to get vitamin D is eating vitamin D fortified yogurt, tuna fish, salmon or you can just take the supplement.
Garlic is another immune system booster. Garlic will kill germs while protecting the body from bad bacteria. If you don’t like to eat your garlic raw, you can try frying it up with some onion in a dash of olive oil. If you don’t like the taste of garlic at all, you can buy a supplement at your local drugstore.
Exercise is another immune system booster. Take some time out of your day and go for a jog or a walk. The rise in body temperature will help ward off germs.
Yogurt is another immune system booster. Yogurt contains live bacteria which will build up the digestive immune system. I personally have not had a cold or the flu in over a year, since starting my daily yogurt regime. So, I give kudos to yogurt!
Last but not least, is to practice good hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and water after handling money or anything that may have been contaminated with germs. Always remember to avoid touching your face with dirty hands. That’s how the germs enter your body. I hope these helpful hints will help keep you safe from colds and flu’s this season.
