5 Tips on dieting

For a lot of people dieting can be quite a struggle.  Especially if you have battled with your weight before, dieting can be quite frustrating.  There are a few simple tips on how you can diet, and see results.  Remember to always consult your doctor before making any major changes to your diet to make sure you are doing the right thing for your body.

1.      Drink plenty of water or no calorie beverages throughout the day.  Most people use the excuse of not liking the taste of water, and there are beverages available with a little taste, but no calories.  These are important to have when on a diet because a lot of people will confuse their hunger with their thirst.

2.      Try eating a little bit smaller portions.  It doesn’t mean that you have to cut out the foods that you love to eat, it just means you should cut back on them, or eat less of them.  The next time you fix your plate at home, but a little less of everything on it.  Eat slower and enjoy the food.  You will be amazed at how full you will still feel.

3.      Cut back or even cut out the amount of night time snacks that you eat.  The body does not have the time to process that food before you go to bed, and often times will make you feel a lot more hungry in the morning.  Choose low calorie snacks if you need something before you go to bed.

4.      If you have an occasion where you need to eat out, order from a kid’s menu.  This will help control the portion size so that you do not eat too much.  Often times when you order a meal at a restaurant they will your plate with too much food, often French fries or chips that can be greasy and high in sodium. These are all things that you want to avoid.

5.      Be physically active.  This doesn’t mean that you have to join the local gym, but just be conscious about the ways you are burning calories.  Simple tasks like taking the stairs instead of an elevator may not seem like a difference, but can make a huge difference in losing weight.  Combining diet and exercise will make a huge difference in your weight loss goals.

There are many different techniques you can use in your diet, but you want to consult your physician before making any major lifestyle changes.  Using these techniques you will be more successful in dieting and help you reach your weight loss goals.
