We are currently in the second week of the second quarter of the NBA’s regular season. According to the 2009-2010 NBA game schedule the regular season has 169 days for each team to play about 82 games and ensure they win as many matches as possible in order to guarantee themselves a spot in the highly desired playoffs.
Although the commencement of the playoffs marks the beginning of the nail biting stiff competition, the regular season has surprised many by providing top flight NBA action that has kept the NBA community hold its breath in various matches.
Some of the unforgettable moments recorded in the first quarter of this season included:
The Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets showing their intention of being considered as title contenders by occupying the helm of their respective conferences. If they replicate their performances in the second quarter of this season, then the league will become very competitive.
In what can be considered as an unfortunate circumstance, the New Jersey Nets set a record for the team with the worst start with 18 straight defeats.
Allen Iverson made a return to the Philadelphia 76ers, the team that drafted him into the NBA. Playing for the 76ers for a decade made him one of the elite players to ever emerge in the league.
NBA released the list of nominees to be inducted in the 2010 basketball hall of fame. Among those names is the most successful controversial player the league has ever seen. Despite his unusual antics on the court during his playing days, he still commanded a massive fan base. The man is none other than the worm, officially known as a Dennis Rodman.
The following are some of the questions to be answered in the second quarter.
Will the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers continue being at the steering wheel of the Eastern and Western Conferences respectively?
Will the Cleveland Cavaliers step up to the plate and provide a serious challenge to the Eastern Conference title?
Which NBA players will be heading to Dallas for the All-star weekend?
Will Iverson have an impact of ensuring the 76ers get back to playoff contention?
Who will out-pace Kobe Bryant in the race to winning the MVP award of the regular season?
