OK lest get started. let’s start with the basics of CAGED, being that this system can be used to learn your way around the fretboard for major scales (and if you know the composition of major and minor, you will also find the minor) and chords. In this article we are going to concentrate on chords, open chords for now, which means chords that are played with strings that are not pressed by any finger.

The name CAGED comes from the five chord names that we are going to learn which are, the C chord, A chord, G chord, the E chord and the D chord. Don’t worry about the order, but it has a reason that i will tell you later way it has that order.

So lest start…

* the number on top, or sometimes on the dots are the finger that you need to use, being your index (1) middle (2)

ring (3) and pinky (4).

*some of diagrams have numbers on the side well i don’t think the are that necessary since all of them are on top of the guitar.

here are some songs you can play using these five chords
