There are many commercials for various law firms where they claim to be asbestos lawyers that handle mesothelioma cases.  Many people has probably seen the commercials and wondered what, exactly, those lawyers handle and if they are the right lawyer for their needs.

  1. If you’ve been diagnosed with mesothelioma and it relates to having worked around asbestos for years, you should talk to an asbestos lawyer.  Just be careful that you find one that is legitimate, will handle your case personally and won’t take advantage of your sickness.
  2. When a family member has been undergoing chemotherapy for mesothelioma, you might want to consider getting an asbestos attorney.  Though it is not for you, people who are undergoing chemotherapy or other cancer treatments might not have the physical strength to go talk to a lawyer and start a lawsuit.  In this case, as the family member you can go talk to an asbestos lawyer.
  3. If you or a family member has been diagnosed with other asbestos related sicknesses, like asbestosis or lung cancer that is related to asbestos exposure and not other causes, you should see an asbestos lawyer in this case as well.  Asbestos exposure causes other diseases than just mesothelioma, so if your doctor tells you that you have a disease relating to asbestos, you should see an asbestos lawyer.
  4. Unless your sickness or the sickness of your family is related to prolonged asbestos exposure, you should not see an asbestos lawyer.  These are lawyers that specialize in cases that relate to asbestos sicknesses.  If you or your family has sicknesses caused by other sources, you should see about finding a different kind of lawyer relating to your specific problem.
