Make a Hobo Dinner over a Campfire

To those of us camping enthusiasts, any good recipe cooked over a hot fire is a great addition to what we already know and do. Here is a recipe many people do but many may not know how to do. Kids find it fun to make by getting in on the action too. I had this when I was in Girl Scouts and it is good. You can add whatever veggies and seasonings you like too. The sky is the limit. Have fun!

What You’ll Need:

  • Campfire
  • Heavy Duty Aluminum foil
  • Hamburger
  • potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • carrots, peeled and sliced
  • onion, sliced
  • salt and pepper
  • ice cubes
  • cooking spray

Step 1

Tear off a nice sized square of heavy duty aluminum foil (this works best with the direct heat). Spray with cooking spray to prevent food from sticking to foil. Place a hamburger patty down in center of foil. Season it with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Next, Place prepared sliced potatoes, onions, and carrots on top and around the hamburger patty.

Step 3

season again with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4

Place an ice cube on top to steam everything inside while it is cooking.

Step 5

Fold up the foil well and place on campfire or hot grill to cook. Turn after 15 minutes and let cook 15 minutes more.

Step 6

Remove from coals with tongs or gloved hands, let foil cool a little, open carefully and eat! Yum!
