Durring the Holidays a lot of families enjoy turkey. It is one of the most consumed meats during the Holiday seasons. Most of us do not eat it all and can use ideas for the leftovers. This is a great recipe that can be used for all of your leftover turkey.
This recipe is one that I have used for years and my family loves it. It is quite easy to make, and has a great taste that you will enjoy.
Ingredients for your creamed turkey:
1 Large onion
4 Tablespoons butter (margarine)
3 Tablespoons flour
4 Cups leftover turkey (chipped)
2 to 3 cups of 2% milk
salt and pepper to taste
Melt butter or margerine in the heavy skillet.
When butter is melted add your chopped onion and simmer until clear, then add flour. You can add the flour a little at a time, and stir as you do.
Stir the flour until it is mixed into the flour. Add the milk slowly until it is mixed into the flour mixture. When all lumps are gone add the turkey and let cook until warm. Then add the salt and pepper.
Simmer about 20 to 30 minutes. We like our creamed turkey thick, if it is to thin you can mix a little flour with a little milk to add to your mixture to thicken it.
You can serve the cream turkey over white bread, or by itself. It makes a great meal for after the Holiday when you are not wanting to take a lot of time toprepare a meal.
