My trip to Paris

I was really excited to meet my friend at the airport with her children.Next day we decided to go sight seeing. I was more interested to check out the places that are on the periphery of Paris.

So after a long drive in the car, finally we reached Rueil-Malmaison which is in the west of Paris, in the department of the Haute de Seine. Rueil Malmaison is famous for the Chateau de Malmaison where Napoleon and his first wife Josephine de Beauharnais lived. And now at present my friend Maria is living with her dear husband and two daughters just 10 minutes walk away from the Chateau. So we were really glad to live for few days in the historical city Rueil Malmaison and at the same time visit Paris, city of art and culture.

We spent first week of our holidays in discovering the famous tourist attractions in Paris and first and foremost we visited the Eiffel Tower and saw the beautiful and stunning view of Paris city. It’s really true that Paris wouldn’t be Paris without the Eiffel Tower. It is found on postcards, paintings, books, tee-shirts, and even home furnishings like lamps are fashioned into the recognizable shape. Of course, a trip to Paris simply isn’t complete without a trip to the Eiffel Tower.

We went to Louvre Museum in Paris which is the largest and undoubtedly the most famous museum in the world, located in the heart of Paris. Our visit to the Louvre Museum was mainly because of one painting and that’s the Mona Lisa. And we could find her in the Grand Gallery in the Salle de Etats, but getting there was not so easy because of the huge number of tourists like us trying to capture the glimpse of the great smile of Mona Lisa in reality.

We visited Arc de Triomphe which is an architectural wonder in itself and is one of France’s most recognizable symbols. Although it was too tiring to get to the top but it was worth it. There was a small museum and gift shop and the best part was the amazing panoramic view of the city.

We saw the Musee d’Orsay which is not as massive as the size of Louvre, but its Impressionist collection is among the best in the world. The museum is housed in a former rail station, and has the atmosphere and personality to match. The Musee d’Orsay attracts 2.1 million visitors annually and I believe that whenever you visit Paris you must take out time to visit this tourist attraction.

On the whole my trip to Paris was very exciting and wonderful and we really enjoyed a lot. I took number of photographs in Paris and went back home with wonderful memories which I cherish till date.
