The Benefits of Grapefruit

350x350_grapefruit6.jpgThe eating of grapefruit can assist you with weight loss in many ways.  I use to eat a half of grapefruit

each day for many years.  And I experienced the weight loss and the many health benefits of the grapefruit.  I especially loved the ruby red grapefruit.  The grapefruits are low in calories, low in sodium, and high in potassium and high in fat burning enzymes.  The good thing about eating grapefruit is that we can eat them without having to worry about consuming too many calories.  And this is a good thing since we are always looking at our calorie intake.

And another positive benefit of eating grapefruit is that it helps boost water ingestion and gives you more energy and increase our metabolism.   The calories in l  large grapefruit is 35 calories.   Grapefruits are

also good for your heart.  The best time of year for grapefruits are between January and June.   This is

when you will be able to find the sweetest tasting grapefruits, and this way you will not need sugar or

artificial sweetener. 

I know when I was choosing my grapefruits, I was looking for the bright skin color and the ones with less bruises.  And of course the healtier or better looking grapefruit is the more juice they have.  So this would tell you that the grapefruits that weigh more would be good and juicy..  And here are some health benefits of  the grapefruit.  It is an excellent health-builder and appetizer as it promotes salivary and gastric digestion.

            * Grapefruits can assist you to recover quickly from cold or flu

           * Grapefruits can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol

            * Grapefruits can provide you with beautiful skin, as with vitamin C in grapefruit encourages

                collagen production

* Also the the vitamin C, found in grapefruit, also helps promote healthy gum tissue

* Grapefruits also help you maintain a healthy weight and grapefruits are just not for breakfast you can put

   them in salads and use them in desserts

Grapefruit eaten in the beginning of a meal will stimulate the meal and help with digestion.  Take some time and and read up on the health benefits of the grapefruit.  Well I can tell you that I am going to put this back in my diet.
