Step 1

Take 4-6 minute showers, no baths

Step2

Get a water meter fitted

Step3

Catch cold water while you are waiting for your hot water to come out. Use your cold water to water house plants or put in fridge for drinking water.

Step4

Fix all leaking toilets, which can waste anywhere from 30 – 500 gallons of water of day!!

Step5

Turn faucet off when brushing your teeth.

Step6

Turn faucet off when shaving.

Step7

Only wash clothes when you have a full load of clothes. Do not wash your favorite shirt to wear the next day just because you want to.  Wait until you have a full load.

Step8

Catch the rain in buckets for watering your lawn, plants and garden instead of using your water hose.

Step9

If you do use your water hose for watering your lawn, use a trigger hoze nozzle.

Step10

Use a timer on your sprinkler system.

Step11

Don’t wash the car on the driveway, wash on the lawn, and use a trigger hoze nozzle.

Step12

Cover your swimming pool to prevent evaporation of the water.

Step13

Let your grass grow some, don’t cut it too short. This will prevent too much watering.

Step14

Only flush your toilet when needed, remember the saying, if yellow let it stay mellow, if it is brown, flush it down. So, in other words, if you throw some tissue in the toilet, don’t flush. Invest in the new dual flushing system at your local hardware store.
