Everyone knows that when you go to an interview, you need to make a good first impression. If you go and are not prepared, you might not get a second chance. Employers could evaluate you by the way you dress, actions and responses. A negative appearance and attitude will affect your interview, even though you have great skills and qualifications. The employer does not want to hire someone who has a bad attitude, because it could affect the company. Here are the four things an employer will look at during an interview:

Appearance is one of the important things the employer would look at. Always look fresh, clean, and well rested. Keep fingernails short and clean. Stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself. Do you like what you see? If you are a woman you should wear a 3 piece tailor suits, dress slacks with knee high, dresses and skirts. The skirt should be at or below the knee and above the calf. In addition, you could wear a pressed blouse, dress jacket, and neutral hosiery with no runs. Shoes should be comfortable to wear. Do not wear high heels for an interview. Wear low/medium heels or even flat dress shoes. For men you could wear a 3 piece tailored suits, trousers, dress slacks, dress socks, pressed shirt with collar, dress jacket and tie. Do not wear jeans or corduroy for an interview. Men shoes should be dark flat dress shoes. Never wear bright colors to an interview stick with dark colors like blues, black, brown.

Do not wear lots of perfume or cologne. There are people that are sensitive to the strong smell. Avoid body order by showering, using deodorant, and washing your hair. Do not smoke before an interview, because the smell could not be pleasant to the interviewer. Makeup should be apply lightly and do not apply bright colors. You should not wear a lot of jewelry. Jewelry should be conservative and non-flashy type. Women should only wear one pair of earrings, one necklace, one bracelet, or watch and one ring.

  1. Manners are also important at an interview. When arriving to the interview shake hands firmly and introduce your self. Do not forget to say excuse me, when passing thru or talking. At the end of the interview, thank the interviewer for taking their time to meet with you. Attitude is also important at an interview. Always be positive about yourself when they ask questions at the interview. When waiting at the waiting area or at the interview sit up straight. When you stand, have likeable posture. Never cross your arms during an interview. Always smile at the interviewer, but do not over do it. Never reveal your bad qualities at the interview. Always turn those bad qualities to good qualities. Never mention bad things about your previous employers or situations. Always think ahead of something positive to say about this company. Let the interviewer know how reliable you have been in the past. Do not let them know you have an issue with day care. Always state you have reliable transportation and day care.
