Finding New Local Customers for Your Business Using MerchantCircle’s FREE Online Advertising

With MerchantCircle you can promote your business, create online ads and coupons, invite other businesses to network with you, and track your activity (how many views thru Google or Yahoo, etc.).  More than 600,000 savvy  business owners use MerchantCircle to attract new customers and drive traffic to both website and brick-and-mortar businesses.

You’ll need to signup for a free MerchantCircle account.  Once you’ve completed the basic profile, you’ll be asked to verify your information to activate your account.  You can list your website, or if you don’t have one, you can create one here.   You’ll be asked to add details of your business such as Hours/Days open, location, and a description of your products or services. Adwords and tags are key. You can pick the category you’d like to be listed in as well as the local city or area.  Additional areas are offered at a fee.   Be sure to complete all this information as it’s important to showing your listing as 100% completed.

profServices2_Thumb.jpgNow that you’ve completed your listing, start adding to your network.  MerchantCircle has a great search engine that allows you to easily find other businesses to connect with – by company name, city name or zip code. You can also invite your own contacts to join so consider doing a little email marketing. Don’t be shy!   Reach out to as many other businesses in your area that you can.  MerchantCircle also tracks and shows who recommends you, and who you recommend.

Create a coupon (or two — again they’re free!).  You can also write a blog for free (and then use one of their widgets to embed it into your website). In addition, you can create newsletters and blogs to stay in touch with your customers and network.   There are multiple widgets available so consider posting different ones to various pages on your website.  It’s a great resource especially for small businesses with a limited advertising budget!
