Cure a Hangover

Here are a few things you can do to make yourself feel better.

  • Have a cup of coffee, very sweet (lots of sugar), and some aspirin. The caffeine will constrict vessels and reduce headache and aspirin helps to increase much needed oxygen filled blood flow to the brain.

  • Drink bouillon. It will help with potassium replacement.

  • Drink lots of water before you go to sleep the night you are drinking. If you have not done this, then drink water when you wake up. Alcohol dehydrates.

  • Take some amino acids. This can be done by purchasing supplements or eating some carbohydrates, like bread or crackers.

  • Eat some honey. It will help flush toxins.

  • Fructose helps remove the alcohol and can be obtained from juices, honey and other sweets. Eat some fresh or dried fruit to help your body process the alcohol more quickly.

  • Take a vitamin, especially B. These are depleted quickly when drinking. You need to replenish vitamins that are water soluble as well, like C and B12.

  • Fill up. Eat some food when you can.

  •  Sleep. Go back to bed. Eat some food, drink some water, do all of the above and take a nap. Sleep heals the body and is the best and only real treatment for a hangover. Time heals all wounds, at least temporarily.

  • Don’t do it again! Drinking too much is bad for you! It not only kills brain cells, but does serious damage to the liver and other organs in large amounts. If you have a hangover it is indicative of some damage to your brain. Stay away from heavy consumption. Remember, everything in moderation.
