Omkareshwar Temple: The 19th century of Lord Omkareshwar (Lord Shiva) is a small beautiful temple located in the heart of Madikeri city. The temple has an awesome architecture. The tank in front of the temple enhances the beauty of this great temple.
Rajaâ€™s Tomb:Rajaâ€™s tomb is the monument located in a hill in Madikeri city, which houses the tombs of a king and his family and commanders. Whether you are a natural lover or a person who love monuments, this place is a â€˜must seeâ€™.
Rajaâ€™s Seat: Rajaâ€™s seat is the most important place to visit in Madikeri. This is the place where the kings of Coorg used to sit and spend their evenings leisurely by watchin sunset. You can view the beautiful Western Ghats mountain range and an aerial of the entire Coorg region from this place.
Places around Madikeri
Abbi falls:Abbi fallsis a small but beautiful waterfalls located inside a coffee plantation near the Madikeri city. You need to walk for around half a mile through the coffee plantation to reach this wonderful destination.
Dubare forest:Dubare forest is an elephant capturing and training centre located on the banks of river Kaveri. Not only your kids, even you will love to see a lot of trained wild elephants together in one place. What more? You can also do water rafting in the river.
Bylakuppe Golden Temple: Bylakuppe Golden Temple is a huge Tibetian monastery housing big idols of Lord Buddha and other Buddhist deities. This extrordinary monument has become a crowd puller in Coorg nowadays.
Nisargadhama Forest:Nisargadhama Forest is a wonderful picnic spot where you can find deers, peacocks, and rabbits. You can also watch birds and go for elephant ride. Boat ride facility is also available in this forest. What more? The bamboo trees surrounded by river Kaveri will definitely give treat to your eyes.
Tala Cauvery:Tala Cauvery is the place where the river Kaveri (Cauvery) originates. There is a small temple in this site. There is a peak which you can trek to watch the surrounding Western Ghats mountain range.
Iruppu Falls:Iruppu falls is the most beautiful waterfalls in the Coorgregion. You need to climb concrete steps and slippery rock to reach the waterfalls where you can take bath. There is a separate route available in this hills (called as Brahmagiri hills) for trekking.
