I know this sounds silly, but I know for a fact that brushing your teeth can help to counteract those cravings, leading to less snacking, less calorie intake and more weight loss. Give this technique a try and you will be pleasantly surprised. It is a really easy way to consume less calories and stay away from sweet, salty, or fatty treats.
 Things You’ll Need:
- A toothbrush
- Minty or really refreshing toothpaste.
- Mouth wash helps too
- Step 1
At the first sign of a snack craving, late-night or otherwise, re-think that snack while you go to the sink and brush your teeth. For some reason, brushing your teeth sends a signal to your brain that you are done eating, and you are less likely to want to eat after you brush. It really does work. Use a toothpaste that is extra-minty and really breath-freshening.Â
- Step 2
Load up your toothbrush with a really minty toothpaste and brush thoroughly. Brush your tongue too, and rinse with mouth wash if you have some.
- Step 3
I know it seems too easy, but you will see if you try it. You really are less likely to eat that sugary snack after you have freshened up your mouth. It’s funny the way the brain works.
Tips & Warnings
- This works really well at night as well as anytime during the day too.
- Use a soft bristle toothbrush if you are going to be brushing a lot to avoid sore gums.
- If you don’t have a toothbrush handy, try chewing minty gum or using one of those wisp portable breath fresheners.Â
