Things You’ll Need:
- cell phone
- internet access
- Step 1
First, go to the website, Phonezoo.com and sign up for an account.
When doing this, you will need to create a user name and you will also have to enter the type of phone that you own, along with the name of your carrier such as Sprint, AT&T, etc., along with your cell phone number.
This is a free website that allows you to download and send free ring tones to your cell phone. The site makes their money from advertisements, so there is no charge to join or use the site. The website sends the ring tones to your phone by text message and the only cost to you will be the cost of the text message from your cell phone company which usually ranges between .10 and .20 cents per text message. If you have free or unlimited text messages included on your phone plan, it will cost you nothing at all.
Once you have signed up and created your user name on the site, you can either create your own personal ring tones or browse the selections on the website and choose one from the site. The following steps will tell you how to do both.
- Step 2
CREATING YOUR OWN PERSONAL RING TONE
You can use the website to create your own personal ring tones from the music that is saved on your computer. To do this, you will need to go to the website Phonezoo.com and click the ring tones tab.
Next, click the create from file tab.
On the next page, click the browse tab.
When the browse window comes up, you will need to go to the file on your computer where your music is stored and click to open it.
Once you have opened the file where your music is stored on your computer, you can choose from the music or sounds that you have saved. Click the one you want to upload and then click the open tab in the browse window. The browse window will then close and the name of the song you want to upload will now be in the blank box on the Phone Zoo site.
Next, you will need to click either the yes or no box to answer whether or not the material is copyrighted. Once you do this, click the next button and this will take you to the create ring tone page.
Once you are at the create ring tone page, click the play button on the media player that’s on the Phone Zoo site. Your music will begin to play.
Next, decide which section of the music or song that you want for your ring tone. You can use any part of the song or music, so if there is a favorite part that you like the most, you can use that part.
Once you have decided which section of the song or music that you want to use, move the shaded block on the player to that part of the song. You can choose where you want the ring tone to start, the length of the ring tone, and whether or not you want your ring tone to fade in or out.
After you have created your ring tone by choosing which part of the music that you want to use for your ring tone and have made your other selections, you can either click save to my zoo, which saves the ring tone to your profile and you can use it anytime you want, or you can click save and send to phone, in which case the ring tone will be text messaged directly to your phone.
- Step 3
DOWNLOADING A RING TONE FROM THE SITE
If you don’t have any music or songs saved to your computer, you can still get free ring tones for your phone. To do this, when you log onto the site, click the ring tones tab and then browse through the categories and ring tones that are already on the site. When you find a ring tone that you like, just click save to my zoo or send to phone, just like in the steps above. The only difference is that you don’t have to create and edit, like you do when you create the ring tone yourself.
- Step 4
RECEIVING THE RING TONES
After you have either chosen a ring tone from the website or created your own personal ring tone and have clicked the send to phone button, you will receive a text message from Phone Zoo. You will need to answer your phone, open the text message and follow the directions to save the ring tone to your phone.
This can be a fun and creative process for adding ring tones to your cell phone. The ring tones are free. All you will be charged is the cost of a text message to your phone and as i said, if you have free or unlimited texting, you won’t even be charged that.
