Let’s say that it’s 8:30 and you’re driving home alone. You are really stressed and frustrated by a gruesome day. Something happened at work and you are so upset that you start to get upset. Suddenly you feel severe pain in your chest that starts to move out into your arm and up to your jaw. You are miles from the nearest hospital. You don’t know whether or not you will get there. You start to panic. What do you do? How do you give yourself CPR.
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly begins to feel faint has about 10 seconds before losing consciousness. So is it imperative to get to help as soon as possible. Time is of the essence.
What to do may sound silly….but cough.
Take a deep breathe and cough deep. Cough as though you are trying to cough up the insides of your lungs. Don’t stop until you reach the hospital or help. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing squeezes the heart and keep the blood circulating. While the blood is circulating, it is possible for the heart to began to beat at a normal pace. My advice is to continue to seek medical attention as soon as possible. You may not have the advantage of having an asprin nearby by to save your life or the life of others that mean so much to you.
This simple method may save your life or the life of others pass it on.
