Parenting is a 24 hour job, 7 days a week, there are no days off, but by putting in the work in the beginning, when the kids are little, will certainly pay off in the end.
When the kids are little and do something wrong, correct them. Tell them “No!” If they do not listen with a simple no, let there be consequences. Perhaps a time-out or maybe take their favorite toy away. Kids learn quickly, the key is being consistent!! Letting things slide is easy, you may not want to deal with a temper tantrum. The best advice is to deal with it now, it will pay off in the end. Simply take a deep breath and ignore the tantrum.
Parenting with consistency is important, and at the same time you should be parenting with love! When kids are behaving, have fun. Be silly with the kids, smile often and laugh more. Talk with your kids every night, but more importantly listen. Keep your lines of communication with them open from an early age. They will learn they can come to you with anything. This will be very important, especially in the teen years.
Do not judge. Try to be non-judgemental with your kids. Give your advice but love them unconditionally, with every piece of your heart. Let home be a safe place to fall.
Parenting can be the toughest job in the world, but the payoff in the end is priceless. You will have raised healthy and happy human beings.
