Are you still walking around in last summer’s fashion. It’s time to put it away and update your fall wardrobe. Luckily, it’s not that hard!
So, the first thing that I want you to do is to take all of your summer items out of the closet and move them to a new closet. They aren’t going anywhere so you don’t have to worry. You can go back and grab something if necessary!
2. Now that you can see exactly what you have that is wearable, weed out items that you never quite got around to giving away. For example, I have a pair of trousers that I have had for a couple of years that are too short.I don’t know if I hoped to lose an inch as I got older, but they are simply taking up space and a hanger. Time to get rid of them.
3. Look for items in a recent fashion magazine, and yes, I know that you have one or two sitting around and pull out some pages of outfits that you like.
4. Take those “pull outs” to your closet and see how close you can come to duplicating on of those outfits. You might be pleasantly surprised. At the moment I’m look at an outfit consisting of a black pair of dress pants, a light weight black jacket… kind of on the frilly side and a yellow blouse. Okay, I have the black dress pants, the black “frilly” jacket I don’t have, but maybe a light weight unusual style of sweater might work over a yellow blouse. But I don’t have anything in yellow either , so might have to check out some blouses in that color to find one that will work with my coloring. At least I have two of the three pieces to work with. I would hate to think what the magazine version of the outfit would have cost me! I might be able to pull that outfit together for under $50 bucks, and no one would ever guess!
5. And keep your eyes open in those magazines for the latest fall trends. I was just reading that the 80s fashions will be making a return. So, take what you like and create your own outfits that are 80s inspired.
*Lastly, buy quality if at all possible. They last longer and give you the best bang for the buck. I actually have a dress that I bought in the 80s… yes, I’m that old lol… It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but I saw it while on holiday in France and it was gorgeous! And guess what… I don’t need to buy a new dress for this year’s Christmas parties!
