Sierra at Tahoe is also referred to as the friendly resort. It is located in the southern region of Lake Tahoe, easily accessed going west on hwy 50 over Echo summit. The drive is fairly short, about 12 miles. If you prefer to leave your car at your hotel or vacation condo, there are also courtesy shuttles departing from South Lake Tahoe.

Sierra at Tahoe is the perfect destination for all back country ski and snowboard adventurers as it offers some of the greatest back country skiing and snowboarding in the Tahoe Area. The terrain is fairly steep and recommended with a guided tour only. Participants are required to pass a certain skill level to join one of the back country tours.

The resort isn’t just for the adrenaline-pumping adventurer though.  Sierra at Tahoe is sought by many families and less-skilled skiers and snowboarders every year. There are plenty of perfectly groomed intermediate runs, about 50% probably. There is very little beginner terrain and maybe 25-30% expert terrain. Snowboarderswill be able to test their skills on three terrain parks and two half pipes.

The mountain top sits up at about 8850 feet, offering magnificent views, especially on clear and sunny days, after a night of snowfall.  There are 12 lifts on this approximately 2000 acre ski-able resort.  Due to Lake Tahoe’s popularity, this resort still remains to be one of the less crowded skiing and snowboarding places.

This friendly resort also offers snowshoeing, has a fun tubing hill for all ages, equipment rental, ski or board lessons for adults and kids, 8 Restaurants, and even a day care for kids between the ages of 18 months and 5 years.
