Are you gaining weight, sluggish, having trouble sleeping, and grouchy? You may be ingesting too much sugar. We all know that we should cut sugars out of our diets, but it’s not an easy task. Sugar surrounds us everywhere we go and the holidays are IMPOSSIBLE. It can be done though. Once you’ve made up your mind that you are going to cut back the sugar, here are some tips that will help you though it.

When your sweet tooth acts up, eat fruit. Fruit is sweet, very sweet. When your body needs sugar, give it natural sugar.

Eat more olive oils, butter, and coconut oils. These will take the place of the sugars and will cut down your cravings for sweets.

Replace your morning coffee with tea. Coffee makes us crave sugar. Switch to a hot brewed green tea instead. Green tea still has that caffeine kick!

Start eating more whole grain breads. Processed breads chemically react differently in your body than do whole foods. Incorporate them into your diet.

Eat more protein. As Dr. Atkins told us for years, eating more protein leads to less cravings for starches and sugars. Meat and vegetables for many of your meals will suffice and cut down your cravings.

Drink lots of water. The human body requires water and usually doesn’t get enough. One of the signals that it needs water is often thought to be a sugar craving. Sip water and see if that curbs your sugar desires.

Cut down on your stress. Stress pumps up our adrenaline levels which makes us crave sugar.
