  • 1, 55 gallon metal drum;

  • 2×4;

  • sheet metal to make a metal funnel;

  • pipe for a down spout;

  • a drill;

  • ½” sheet metal screws;

  • clear silicone;

  • 38 to 40” legs

tips: cut the bottom of your funnel to fit the spout.

CHECK YOUR STATE RULE FOR HUNTING. BAITING, OR FEEDING DEER IS ILLEGAL IN SOME STATES!!!

Be sure the drum is clean. Prepare the drum by cutting out the bottom, leaving a 2” lip.

Sheet metal is fairly easy to bend. Bend it into a funnel that will fit the opening you just cut in the drum. Join the seam with sheet metal screws.

Next you will want to attach the down spout. The material for the spout should at least be rust proof, and should be at least 8” in diameter. Not too big, but large enough to not clog. The spout should be installed at an angle to allow the feed to fall. Once it is positioned correctly, attach the spout to the funnel with sheet metal screws.

Now drop the funnel assembly through the top of the drum. Use a hammer and a 2×4 to bend the sheet metal to fit the 2” lip. Attach with sheet metal screws from the inside. Start with pilot holes to make it easier. Use at least 4 screws to secure the funnel.

Caulk all seams and where the funnel attaches to the drum. Attach the 4 legs. Let everything set overnight. Fill with feed, and watch the deer herd for dinner.
