Each year during the holiday season we ponder and fret over what dessert to take to the family gathering. Between shopping for just the right festive clothes, and worrying about whether you’ve gotten a proper gift, who has time to stress over a dessert?! This is an easy and inexpensive dessert that dumps into the pan and bakes. A delicious ‘no bother’ dish that will bring a smile to everyone’s sticky lips!
Things You’ll Need:
- 9 x 11 baking pan. Foil pans are good for No Cleanup.
- Stick of oleo
- Two 16 oz. cans of cherry pie filling
- One box of yellow cake mix.
- Chopped nuts are optional
- Cool Whip is optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. There is no need to grease the pan.
Dump both cans of cherry pie filling into the pan. Spread evenly across the bottom.
Dump dry yellow cake mix onto the cherry pie filling. Do not mix. Spread the cake mix evenly across the top of the filling. Spreads well with the back of a spoon.
Melt the stick of oleo in a saucepan or in the microwave. Once melted, pour it evenly across the yellow cake mix. It will NOT saturate and cover the cake mix.
If you are using chopped nuts, spread them across the butter. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for one hour.
The done dessert will be lightly brown and the cherry pie filling will be bubbling up around the edges. Nuts will get a little blackened.
It’s that easy! Can be eaten warm or cooled. Dollop with Cool Whip or eat plain. It’s a very rich dessert!
