The Ultimate Top 10 Guide to Improving Earnings on Busika

I guess that the majority of writers on Busika are trying to relive childhood dreams of becoming a recognised author or journalist. Naturally, not all of us will acheive this. Nevertheless when my monthly statement comes each month with a receipt for $1.50, I can’t help but wondering there must be a way to improve earnings substancially. Although I’m still hardly a millionare, I’ve learnt a couple of tips to improve earnings.

Write about relevant topics.

This may seem like common sense, but its true. Ask yourself- What do people really want to hear about?

Write about something you know about.

There is no point writing about something you know very little about. If you do, you will probably end up regurgitating information you have just read.

Be original.

If you are writing about a topic that has already been written about a lot, then be original. Shed a different light on the topic, look at it from a different point of view, or analyse it in a different way.

Try to steer clear of articles that go out of date.

This is one I found out through personal experience. For example, I’ve written a few football reviews on matches. Problem is, they go out of date extremely quickly. No one wants to read a review of a game that happened three weeks ago. Within a week or so, they lose all public interest, and views will be very low. For example, my first ever article was a match report on a Champions League match between Liverpool and Marseille. It has been on for almost a year and had a pitiful 22 views. Meanwhile, I published an article about Premier League statistics. This will not go out of date, and has had around 500 views.

Build a network of friends.

This is something I don’t do enough of. Despite being an active member for a year, I only have five friends. If you had 100 friends, whenever you published an article, it would be on the dashboard of each of them. 100 views = approx. $0.15. Its not a lot, granted, but if they then share the article, the views will multiply.

Tags are so important!

If your not sure about what to write about, check out the hot tags. These are things that Triond users are searching for. Therefore they could be reading your article. Find something that appeals to you, and then write about it! Secondly, be sure to think carefully about the tags you enter for your article. Its how the majority of your viewers will find you, so be sure to not dismiss this part of the article. Its as important as the content! One tip is if you are writing a genuine movie review, make sure one of your tags is “no spoilers.” People who want movie reviews want to see honest opinion, not an idiot who spoils the story for everyone!

Share your work.

This is probably the most important point. Share it with everyone. Share, share, share! I have almost 400 friends on facebook, and they are probably sick with seeing my new articles on there almost every day. But I do notice that views shoot up in that short period of time where all my friends can see it. Do you use Twitter, Myspace, Bebo, or Blogger? Well use it to your advantage, and publish your articles on there as well.

Once you’ve followed point 7, share it even more!

Yahoo answers is an excellent place to publish your work. Make sure you are publishing your work in relevant sections on the website, otherwise your answer will be at risk of being taken down! As Yahoo Answers will get an enormous amount of traffic a day, this can potentially lead lots more people onto your articles! If you are publishing sports articles, publish it on a sports website – i.e BBC.

Link your articles together.

This is very important. If you have two music articles, with one more popular than the other, put a link to the other in each article. This may mean that a viewer will read your first article, then decide to read your second one.

The title is the most important part of the article.

Look at it this way. 60% of people will click on your article and read the whole thing. 80% will read around half of it. 90% will read the first paragraph. 100% will read the title. So make the title appealing, interesting and be sure it invites viewers to continue reading your article.

Hopefully these top 10 tips will help you improve your earnings. I may not be one to be giving out advice, as I am hardly the most popular writer on this website. However, if you follow these sure fire tips, you won’t go far wrong.
