- Step 1
First of all make sure you have a PDA or a pathophysiology book and a drug reference book. With these, you can look up informaon on medications you have to give and disease procceses. The PDA is the best tool to have because it will give you medical and pharmacologica information.
- Step 2
Next look up all of you patients medications. Read the mechanism of action, side effects, adverse effects and nursing management of clients on those drugs. Not only should you look them up for the sake of looking them up, you should write down what information you get so you can present your case smartly and in a organized fashion during post conference. PL remember them for future use in exam situations.
- Step 3
Next thing look up whatever diseases or surgical procedure your patient has had or has. Find out what the pathophysiology of the disease is, look and see if the patient is exhibiting all or any of the signs you have read in your book. Read up what the nursing management for the disease is. Utilize this iformation in making a care plan for the client. The more care plans you make, the mre you learn about how different disease processes and surgical processes shoud be managed by the nurse.
- Step 4
SoO you can do two extra things while in the hospital. You can increase and solidify your knowlege about the pathophyisology of a disease, surgical process and learn about pharmacology.
Hope this helps
