Green Papaya Vietnamese restaurant bistro is located at 3211 Oak Lawn Avenue and the hours of operations are from Monday through Friday from 11:00 A.M to 3:00 P: M and for dinner from 5:00 P.M to 10:00 P.M and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 3:00 P.M to 3:00 P.M and then from 5:00 P.M to 10:00 P.M and the restaurant is closed daily from 3:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M.
The restaurant décor has a European style but it is mixed with subtle Southeast Asian design and the restaurant also has great service which brings a great welcome when entering it. And an interesting note is that according to the American Heart Association many of the dishes are low in saturated fat so healthy.
For their appetizers you can eat the Cha Gio., which is fried egg rolls, shrimp, pork, chicken, clear noodles rolled in egg roll paper for $3.95, or the Green Papaya which is a dish with shrimp, marinated green papaya, vermicelli and lettuce rolled in rice paper and served with a fish sauce for $4.75, and if you are undecided there is the Green Papaya which is a combination plate with two egg rolls, two spring rolls, two shrimp toast and two tempura shrimp.
For their vegetarian dishes you can order the Goi Cuon Chay which is tofu spring rolls and fried tofu, vermicelli and lettuce rolled in rice paper for $3.75, or the Hu Tieu Xao Tofu which is rice noodles or egg noodles with tofu, Chinese broccoli, bean sprouts, Eggs and green and white onion for $8.95.
For their rice noodles section you can order the Bun Tom Xao, which is sautéed shrimp with lemon grass, vermicelli, lettuce, bean sprouts and cucumber and all is topped with peanuts and scallions for $9.95, or the Bun Ga Nuong which is charcoal broiled chicken for $8.95.
For their beef and pork entrées you can order the Heo Xao Cay, which is hot and spicy pork with baby bamboo shoots, carrots and onions for $11.95, or the Bo Nuong Xa which is charcoal broiled flank steak marinated in lemon grass and chili and served with rice and vegetables for $12.95.
