There are a lot of fad diets that urge people to increase the consumption of meat, especially the ones that suggest low-carb diets. One common example is that of Atkins diet, which recommends you to follow a diet which is low in carbohydrates and high in fat. The principle behind this logic is when the intake of protein is increased it is a definite way to loose weight, and that meat is one of the best source of protein. But is that really true? In this article I will tell you how far meat can help you loose weight.

Many fad diets such as the Atkins diet and alike cause a great deal of ignorance on the part of people. The truth is far more different than what the exponents of the fad diets would have you believe. As a matter of fact, you will loose weight by burning more calories than what you consume and not by increasing your protein intake!

Again another important point is that, not all kinds of meat are good for your health, and some can actually make you gain weight. For example, meat such as bacon, fried chicken, pepperoni, ham salami, etc, contains a high amount of calories. Do you think you will loose weight by increasing your calorie intake? Absolutely not!  On the other hand, you are more likely to increase your pounds. That is why I highly doubt that a high amount of meat consumption will ever help anyone to loose any amount of weight.

Above all, frequent consumption of meat is harmful to your health as it damages the kidneys, blocks the arteries and damages your digestive system because when you consume meat it tends to decay in your colon. There is more! Meat also leads to poisoning of the blood stream and may cause harmful diseases such as cancer and diabetes. Thus you can see, meat is not at all your friend!

Also, if you want to get the maximum protein from your meat, you will need to eat it either in a raw or boiled condition. If you cook meat with all kinds of spices and condiments, meat consumption will do you no good because a lot of protein is being destroyed during the cooking process! If you think that a high protein intake will indeed help you loose weight, then also remember that it is always the amount of protein that counts, not its source. Also consider the fact that you will be able to get far more protein from natural foods such as nuts and seeds than meat can ever offer! These whole foods will give your body all the protein it needs, without causing any ill effects or harming you in any way!
