When you have no time and you desperately need something quick to whip up to serve guests or just the family when they are hungry before dinner is ready. This is also great for watching football games particularly the SUPERBOWL. And can be used as a great outdoor appetizer in the summer. Avocados are available year round in the grocery store. Pick one that is ripe which would be slightly soft to the touch. This will assure a more flavorful dip for the chips. If you buy the avocado a few days before, it can be ripened on the countertop. You don’t have to buy the expensive brand of salsa but watch out for it’s strength or “hotness”. It comes in mild, medium and hot. The hot salsa can make the dip too spicy for some. I found that most prefer the medium the guacamole right before you’re going to serve it because avocados turn darker the longer they are exposed to air.
YOU WILL NEED:
one small jar of salsa
bag of tortilla chips
Slice the avocado down the middle and remove the pit. Scoop out the meat of the avocado with a spoon and place it in a dish. Smash it with the back of the spoon until most of the lumps are out then add two heaping tablespoons of the salsa and blend. Place the mixture in a nice dish and place the dish on a large plate. Surround the dish with the tortilla chips and voila! a tasty and fast appetizer. Serve immediatel and ENJOY!
