Given the season, and what we celebrate annually, I thought I’d throw in a quick comment about what this time of year means, but more importantly in my life, what I should make this time of year.
And they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”
He’s here, every day, every minute, every situation, every frustration, every joy, every pain, every laugh, every tear, every conversation, every thought…
We forget what started this season and what we are celebrating. Setting up a nativity scene, singing some carols and hymns and telling each other “Merry Christmas”.
How can we reflect on this Christmas season?
1. Slow Down. Take time out of the shopping and sending cards to tell your family and friends how much you love them and are thankful for them.
2. Share. Instead of buying that “one more gift” find someone in need to share with. There are many organizations such as John 3:16 and Christ for Humanity both in Tulsa, OK that you can donate to or better yet, help out for Christmas dinner.
3. Remember Christ. This is the most important part of the holiday. Remember what we are truly celebrating. The birth of our Lord, who came as a baby and freely gave His life for ours so that we can receive a completely free gift from him.
Is my passion to reflect “God with me”? Too bad we only think about this once a year.
