SwissVPN – Swiss VPN Service

Maybe you know that surfing, mailing and chatting can easily be intercepted especially in your local neighborhood. Tracking down your traffic in hotel networks, hotspots, corporate and home LAN, regional and national networks is easy in many cases.

SwissVPN is a business unit of Monzoon Networks AG, a Swiss telecommunications company which has been in operation since over 5 years. SwissVPN is dedicated to offer you an encrypted VPN tunnel from your computer to a Swiss computer centre in Zurich and entering the Internet from there. This way your traffic will safely tunnel all wireless and wired networks using encrypted VPN and you’ll surf the Internet from Switzerland.

SwissVPN works with the Point-to-point tunneling protocol (PPTP), which is supported under all major operating systems, including Windows XP and Vista, Mac OS X 10.2-10.4 | 10.5 (Leopard), Fedora Linux and Ubuntu Linux. Alternatively, OpenVPN can be used if PPTP does not work (due to firewalls etc.).

There is no limit on traffic volume within your SwissVPN accessand the backend connection is 2 GB/s, which is fully redundant. It is only $5 per month.

To use it, follow these steps:

1. Click on “buy” and select the service duration you like.

2. Enter your credit card details.

3. You will receive a tunnel URL (connect.swissvpn.net), a login and a password.

4. Setup your VPN according to the guideline for your operating system. It will take you 3 minutes, no software installation required.

5. Start your SwissVPN wherever and whenever you want to surf the Swiss way.

If you want to be sure that you can successfully establish a connection to SwissVPN before you purchase an account, you may use the following test credentials to log in:

-VPN server: connect.swissvpn.net

-Username: swissvpntest

-Password: swissvpntest

But the test account can only be used to connect to www.swissvpn.net – but you may check the VPN indicator next to the SwissVPN logo (see screenshot below) to verify that your VPN connection was successful (you may have to click the Refresh button in your browser to see the logo).

If you want to use free VPN, you can try UltraVPN, Alonweb, CyberGhost and Hotspot Shield, but from time to time the free services come and go, as that was the case for AlwaysVPN and Relakks.
