The Different Types of Sharks

For thousands of years the oceans and waters of the world have been filled with numerous different types of sharks. Here in this article I want to talk about some of those with some very interesting features and facts. So often much of the animal life here on Earth is misunderstood and these creatures certainly fall under that umbrella with so many species regularly becoming threatened or endangered for horrible and wrong reasons.

Some of these may not be considered that different types of sharks but they are interesting to talk about all the same. The basking shark would probably be a very fearsome sight to behold for anyone in the open water as they are known to reach lengths of up to 40 feet tall and swim with their mouths wide open gathering food. The key here however is that they are harmless to humans because they basically feed off the small plankton like critters just the same as the giant whale shark. Those are known to get as large as 60 feet and weigh up to 80,000 pounds.

The Goblin shark has to be one of the strangest and most different types of sharks out there in the ocean. The facial structure is so strange as they have a protruding horn-like growth coming off the top and the mouth sticks out almost like a beak underneath that area. It’s certainly one of the most unusual creatures you will probably ever see in the water.

So those are just a few of the numerous different types of sharks out there in the deep waters of our world. Who knows what new discoveries are waiting to be found and exposed to the people of all the numerous cultures. One thing is certain and that’s society needs to take more time to understand these creatures and keep the different types of sharks from becoming a thing of the past.
