Baked Jack Daniels Spareribs

Jack Daniel’s is a brand of Tennessee Whisky that is among the world’s best-selling liquors and is known for its square bottles and black label. Jack Daniel’s is consumed in shots, neat, on the rocks, and as an ingredient in dozens of different cocktails. It has been prominently featured in movies, songs, and even novels. It is also a great ingredient in many recipes.

These ribs are a crowd pleasers. Serve them for dinner or for a large get together. They are also just as good when cooked in a crock pot or even done on the BBQ. The sause can be made ahead of time and kept in a bottle or airtight container in the fridge. Do not be afraid to experiment: try adding some extra heat or some fresh herbs and spices to the recipe. The sauce is also perfect for chicken.


  • 4-5 pounds pork back ribs separated into 3 rib segments
  • 1 cup Soy sauce
  • 1 cup Tomato juice or Ketchup (depends on how thick you like the sauce)
  • ½ to 1 cup Jack Daniels Tennessee Whisky
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • The juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 1-2 tsp Tabasco sauce
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1 small Shallot very finely minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and fresh pepper


  • Arrange trimmed, separated ribs in roasting pan
  • Season well with salt, pepper and garlic powder
  • Mix remaining ingredients and pour over ribs
  • Marinate for 1 hour at room temp or as long as you like in refrigerator
  • Bake ribs in a 325 degree oven for 1 ½ – 2 hours, turning every 20 min (if sauce gets too thick add a little tomato juice or water)
  • Place ribs on a platter and cover with remaining sauce
