Sharing the holiday spirit

If you are fortunate enough to have your family near you for the holidays, you are blessed. Use this blessing to your advantage. This is the time of year when everyone should be in a jolly good mood. All families have their moments when they have heated arguments. The good thing is that most times we can overlook our conflicts and enjoy the holidays.

The closer the holidays approach the merrier the spirit should be. We are finally at the end of a rough year, it’s now time to close out the old year in a great spirit. Get those pudding or cake recipes out, and start the fun. Some people have recipes that are passed down from generation to generation. Most of these recipes are only used during this time of the year, making it even more special.

Giving to the needy during this time of the year can bring a smile to their faces. There are millions of children who go hungry and without toys, during this time of the year. We know that times are hard in these tough economic times, but we don’t have to give much. A little can go a far way, for people who are really in need. I don’t know about anyone else, but I always feel good inside, whenever do something nice for someone. It is such a rewarding feeling, especially when you see the look of gratefulness on their faces.

I always enjoy listening to the older folks stories about how they spent their holidays. Listening to them make me realize how much things have changed over the years. I love to just curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and a warm blanket, and listen to them talk. As I listen, I find myself drifting away into another world….their world. Okay, back to reality. Whatever way you decide to spend your holiday, just remember to have fun while it last, and don’t forget to share the holiday spirit.
