“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”. Mathew 6.34
This portion of scripture is a typical advice to men concerning worrying about the future.
Knowing men’s troubled heart regarding matters of life Jesus teaches that it is useless to worry for tomorrow which has not yet come and to take care of today as it “has enough trouble of its own”.
Everyday is a new day full of good and bad surprises, obstacles, happiness as well as troubles, hurts, challenges and unexpected events which come our way and which have to be dealt with. Adding an already troubled mind with things concerning the future puts more stress and rob the joy of the present day. By worrying about tomorrow nobody will be able to prevent a particular problem to happen or modify it whatsoever to avoid pain.
“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” He (Jesus) questioned. The future is not ours. Furthermore it unnecessarily disturbs and prevent us from tackling present problems efficiently which leads to more frustration and very often chaos.
To live a happy and healthy life is no secret, we need to learn to live one day at a time and let tomorrow take charge of itself. Easy to say but not easy to put into practice. True! There is one way though. We should acknowledge that God exists and start taking care of our spiritual life. Men alone cannot live a joyful life in a chaotic world like the one we live in. Guidance from heaven is needed every single day.
Prayer, faith, determination and patience should be our spiritual “bread”. We should all start the morning by prayer and thanksgiving. Meditation of the word of God is important to keep a positive mindset.
Seeking divine help and guidance in all matters of life is a wise thing to do not to avoid challenges but to go through them with great determination, lots of patience, fearlessness and most importantly faith. This should be the first things to do before starting the daily tasks. Forgetting the future and leave it all in the hands of the Almighty, is a sure way to be happy and calm no matter how hard it is. God knows everything about the future so He knows better than we do how to wisely tackle things.
“Hurts of the past and worries of the future bring today’s stress”. I heard that a few times and its very true.
The past is gone, the secrets of the future are unknown to us we are left with the present therefore we have to make the most of it.
