In just about a year, Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has landed in at least three lists of world celebrities for his popularity, influence and wealth.
The latest is his first appearance in the list of Forbes’ Magazine’s highest paid athlete of the year. Pacquiao ranked sixth in the Forbes’ list with estimated earnings of about $40 million from June 2008 to June 2009. Golfer Tiger Woods is on top of this year’s list with estimated earnings of $110 million.
Pacquiao has nearly overtaken the earnings of famous soccer icon David Beckham of England who made about $42 million. The pound -for-pound king even surpassed the earnings of Phoenix Suns’ Shaquille O’Neal and tennis star Roger Federer who just won the French open last month.
The second list is the Forbes’ most powerful celebrities ranking him at 57th among the top 100 list along with Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Oprah Winfrey.
The prestigious Time Magazine has also placed Pacquiao in it list of world’s most influential people.
Another mega fight awaits the world’s most popular boxer when he faces either Miguel Cotto of Shane Mosley late this year. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez are also in contention for this year’s most anticipated fight.

Pacquiao who was vacationing in Bohol Philippines with his family late this week has just received a major boxing award (Boxer of the Year) from the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), his second in two years.
