What is SEO?
According to Wikepedia.org, the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Usually, a site is presented in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS). The longer it stays in SERPS, the higher it “ranks”, and the more searchers will visit that site. There are also different kinds of searches SEO can target, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.”
Why is it important to my business?
SEO can increase your visibility in the Internet. Currently, the top site searched in the Internet is Google. They are undisputed and in fact, almost 80% of web searches are from Google. Imagine how a well optimized website can receive hundreds of thousands of more hits than a website that is not optimized. Attach a pair of eyeballs to those Google searches and you can see that every “hit” on your site is a potential sale. Your customer will either give you a call or contact your business if they can’t buy directly from the website.
Furthermore, SEO is one of the most underutilized tools a business can have. SEO can be worry-free, costless and very effective if done in the right way. In certain markets, SEO can be achieved with relative ease as many businesses fail to create websites that are search engine friendly. I have witnessed countless websites that cost thousands of dollars to produce substandard rank with Google in categories they should own. We are no longer living in a local world. Most businesses are able to operate globally for cheap. Your customer base is only as big as your search engine optimization strategy.
Currently, many are puzzled with countless scams and overvalued products in connection to SEO. To be safe, I suggest you do a search Google relating to SEO and read up thoroughly on the matter before you try to implement some strategies. Be wise. Unless you’re not sure enough of what you are getting, do not even let a single centavo get out from your pocket.
