Review: Pounds and Inches:  A New Approach to Obesity

Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity written by A.T.W
Simeons MD is anything but new.  This manuscript details 16 years of his clinical
experiences with 1000’s of patients who had struggled with weightloss.

He takes the approach that overeating is a result of obesity
not the cause. He believes that the tendency to accumulate
abnormal fat is a metabolic disorder, and therefore the only way to
cure it is to correct it.

He has created a unique treatment that Drs. from all over the world have
studied.  The treatment consists of a daily dose of Human Chorionic
Gonadotrophin (HCG), the hormone woman secrete when pregnant, and
a severely restricted 500 calorie a day diet.  The reason this
combination works is because HCG causes abnormally accumulated fat
to be released into the blood stream and due to the restricted diet
used by the body to function.  Although the food intake is restricted
the HCG caused enough fat to be released into the blood stream that
the person is in essence functioning on around 2000 calories a

While on this diet a person typically loses an average of 1 pound a day.
It is also observed that while on this treatment only abnormal fat
deposits are released and consumed. No signs of abnormal fat consumption
are visible.  The treatment can only be administered in bouts of 40 days.
After that period of time the patient builds up an immunity to HCG and
if there is additional weight to be lost, must take a 6 week break from
the diet to allow the body to reset before resuming treatment.  Continuing
beyond 40 days can result in hunger, look weary and drawn, and feeling weak.

Upon losing all the weight the patient desires, HCG is removed from the
daily treatment and the patients are allowed to eat anything they want except sugar
for 3 weeks.  During this time they must weigh themselves every morning and
implement special measures if they have gained more than 2 pounds.  During this
3 week period the body stabalizes at this new weight and at conclusion is
“cured” from obesity.

From the hundreds of patients he treated about 60% to 70% of those who successfully
completed the treatment were able to keep the weight off permanently.  Compared
to the numbers associated with modern day diets such as Weight Watchers,
Jennie Craig, NutriSytem, etc. that is a miracle.

So you may ask, if this diet is so amazing, why isn’t everyone doing it
and why aren’t all Drs. perscribing it?  That a very valid question and
some very contraverial information surrounds it.  Kevin Trudeau’s book
The Weight Loss Cure “They” Don’t Want you to Know About covers this in
depth and attempts to uncover a government conspiracy to keep America

Whatever you believe if you have been struggling with weight loss you
owe it to yourself to check this diet out.  It quite possibly could be
the last diet you ever go on.
