Wow, this new video punches right through the heart of the old ego and leaves you reeling in it’s aftermath.  I am a lfan of Dr Dyer’s and think hids approach to life merits genius and with this latest project it feels like a breakthrough to very hardened hearts.  The movie centers around a special place, a refuge by the sea, where Dr Dyer and a film crew have come to capture philosophies on life.  In reality, it is a movie within a movie where all of the characters break through to the “afternoon of their lives”.  Seperate stories that all connect together to paint vivid pictures of how lives so easily began can spiral out of control but can readily come back into control as well.  It is a phenomenal piece of film that teaches so many things, gives such simple straight forward advice, and never cheats the viewer out of their answers.  Dr Dyer talks about his SHIFT from being a pop psychology doctor writing such early works as Your Erroneous Zones and Pulling Your Own Strings to moving through that phase into more spiritual contemplations.  His “inner pull” or “future pull” that guides him through his surrendered life of blissful peace.  When life was new we needed nothing as we grew the ego began to exert it’s hold over us.  More, More, Better, Faster, Win , Win, pushing us to our limits before we can even take a breath.  It is as if we let our lives work up to a certain point then say I know what’s best–let me get in there and run things.  A very telling sign of Dyer’s wisdom is his phrase that is used for the ego–E-DGING G-OD O-UT, isn’t that just like humans to tell God we can do His job.  Our egos tell us we can handle things on our own and we are seperate from everything and everyone.  This is the cause of so much entanglement in our lives and relationships.  We do push God out of the way and mess up His plans to create a beautiful life where we are happy.  So many things are created by us because of it–dramas that need not take over our every waking moment, things that we can never regain once we’ve lost them.  We pass through this world but once and sometimes we miss the journey because we are so gung-ho to get to the destination.  Life is meant to be an adventure that we love living and sometimes we we are so deceived by the ego that everything we care about comes crashing down.  In the three main character studies in ATM there is the film maker who is pinning his hopes and ambitions on his work, the workaholic lawyer and his abandoned wife, the family with two kids where the dad is fulfilled but the wife is not sure who she is anymore, and in the center of all of them is this magical resort called Asmarilla and Dr Dyer.

As the movie is being created worlds begin to shift as Dyer explains about the quantum moments we have where all of our values turn upside down.  When that begins to happen a great SHIFT is coming towards you and your life will never be the same again.  As we leave the ego behind and begin to serve others we find our true purpose and meaning in life.  Touching another’s life is the greatest we can hope to achieve and we are all equipped from the moment we come out of the womb with all we need to accomplish our purpose.  Alignment begins when we start to let go of our ego demands and we start to ask questions like how can I make another person’s life better.  It doesn’t have to be some magnanimous gesture where you buy them a house; it can be a hug or a smile or words to cheer someone who needed it.  Life is very short and we need to reach out to those in need.  I feel like those challenges out there that stay with us are manifestations of consciousness where we have a choice to do the right thing.  Whether we choose that path is up to us, it may mean very little to us but it could mean the difference between life and death for someone who reached out and was rejected.  I often think about the concepts of ego and self within the framework of Christianity. between hypocrisy and humility, and if any one of us realy can grasp the life of another.  Jesus washed his disciples feet in the book of JOHN ch 13 verses 12-17   12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. NKJV  As a servant we enter into the blessings of the Lord and the greatest message of this movie was to find your purpose in the service of others whether that be building a home for the homeless or reading to the blind.  In order to truly be fulfiilled you can not die with your song unsung on the inside of you.
