With the East boasting teams such as Boston, Cleveland and Orlando and players like KG, Pierce, Howard and Lebron the West is home to some great teams and players alike.
Los Angeles Lakers — Almost breezed through the first month of the season perfect. The only loss was to the Pistons and that was a close one as well. With a record of 14-1 so far it is quite presumable that they are gonna be the best team in the league this year. With players like Kobe, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom the Lakers have constructed a title contending team for years to come. Off the bench guys like Trevor Ariza and Jordan Farmar contribute really well for their team.
New Orleans Hornets — I would have dropped them out of this list due to their early season struggle but a team with CP3 Chris Paul in it can never be out of contention. I do like their nucleus of young and athletic stars such as Tyson Chandler, Paul and David West and they do have one of the best starting five in the league right now. If they can pick up theri defensive plays then their’s no reason to leave them off.
Houston Rockets — The key for this team as is the case for the last three years is their “Health”. When players are healthy this team could be a darkhorse in the West. They have Yao Ming, Tmac and Ron Artest which forms one of the best trios in the league now. Look for them to try and find consisten chemistry en route to winning their first play-off round together.
